Our Office

How Is Our Office Special?

Our Caring Dental Team

Our dental team is warm, caring, and friendly.  Your comfort is our #1 priority.  You will be listened to, and treated with the very best customer service, every visit.  We are all here to serve you.  Our hygienists are gentle, thorough, and non-judgmental.  Our administrative staff will help you with your appointments, payments, and insurance issues.  Our assistants ensure a quick and comfortable experience and provide you with detailed information.

Informed Patients

You are in control of your treatment at our office.  You decide which services you want.  We have found that the best way to educate patients about the condition of their mouth is to show them photos of their mouth.  We take a full photographic series of your teeth and mouth, and provide viewing screens in all rooms to view enlarged digital photographs and x-rays.  Our goal for treatment is to help you become as healthy as you choose.  Instead of telling you how healthy you ought to be, we will try to help you understand your choices about dental health and then let you make a free and informed decision.  It is your decision about the level of care you feel is most appropriate for you.  We see a wide range of patients—from those that only want immediate treatment for an emergency problem—to patients who decide on a master plan to develop a long-term treatment strategy for health and want their teeth looking their best at all times.

Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

We perform a very comprehensive exam of your jaw joint and muscles, your bite, your smile and esthetics, your teeth, and your gums.  We also perform a thorough oral cancer screening.  Then, using enlarged digital photos and x-rays, we give you a tour of your mouth in four parts:  (1) how your teeth look, (2) how your bite functions, (3) the condition of your teeth, and (4) the condition of your gums and bone.  We offer a diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan.

Personalized Preventive Maintenance Therapy

With increasing evidence of the link between periodontal disease and such things as heart disease, stroke, pregnancy complications and diabetes, good dental hygiene care is of the utmost importance.

Privacy and Confidentiality

We understand that your care is confidential and only you will have access to your files and information.  All of our computers are password-protected and your data is encrypted and safeguarded in off-site backup systems.

Sterilization Center and Clean Water Supply

In our office, we have hospital-grade sterilization.  This includes sterile, bagged instruments with steam autoclave sterilization.  We verify the effectiveness of our sterilizer weekly, with an independent lab at SPS Medical.  There are also clean water supplies in drills and sprays.  Our water source is a special reservoir of treated water mounted in each room.  Therefore, it is “biofilm” (i.e. bacteria) free.  Because dental equipment uses narrow water lines, which can harbor bacterial biofilm, we need a higher level of sanitation than that provided by the chlorine dioxide in the municipal water.

Digital X-Rays with Logicon Caries Detection Software

We eliminate film in the dental office and can reduce x-ray exposure by a whopping 75%.  We can enlarge the x-ray for easier viewing and diagnosis.  Our Logicon Caries Detection Software makes it possible to extract additional information from digital radiographs that is not visually obvious, increasing earlier detection of the cavities.  One study showed that Logicon detected 20% more cavities in need of restoration than could be identified with visual inspection of the x-rays alone.

Digital Panoramic X-Ray

This machine allows more diagnostic information with much less radiation.  It offers greatly increased comfort, and it can be used even on severe gaggers.  It also offers faster results—the image comes up on the screen within seconds of taking it.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide sedation kills pain and produces a relaxed, pleasurable feeling in minutes.  The depth of sedation can be altered from moment to moment.  The gas is eliminated from the body within 3 to 5 minutes after the nitrous oxide is stopped and 100% oxygen is administered.  Therefore, you can safely drive home and you do not need an escort to, or from, the office.

Isolite Isolation Mouthpieces

These comfortable mouthpieces protect the back of the throat and gently retract and protect the cheek and tongue, dramatically decreasing the risk of patient injury.  The patient can comfortable rest their jaw on the built-in bite block.  It allows procedures to be completed much faster and allows the dentist complete visibility and shadowless illumination of the entire oral field.

Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy

Clear aligner therapy allows teeth-straightening with virtually invisible, custom-made aligners.  You can remove the aligners when you want, which allows you to eat and drink what you want during treatment, and to brush and floss your teeth normally.  It consists of smooth, comfortable plastic instead of sharp metal brackets and wires.  Therefore, it is less likely to cause irritation to your mouth.  It allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you start, so you can see how your straightened teeth will look when your treatment plan is complete.

Laser Treatment for Cold Sores and Cancre Sores

This treatment with our diode laser takes just a few minutes and there is virtually no discomfort during, or following, treatment.  Most patients who are treated when the lip starts tingling never develop a full-blown cold sore.  If the sore has already broken out, it will progress no further after treatment.  It offers immediate, profound relief of symptoms for both cold sores and cancre sores.  The area will return to normal in a matter of days, rather than a few weeks.   There are anecdotal reports that, after treatment, the sores reoccur with less frequency and intensity in the same location.

Laser Treatment for Soft Tissue Procedures

Our diode laser can also be used for reshaping or removing gum tissue, clipping muscle attachments, removing soft tissue growths, and gently removing swollen tissues.  These procedures can be completed as precisely and gently as possible, with the least amount of postoperative pain and swelling.   This occurs because the laser not only removes tissue, but seals blood vessels and nerve endings.  These procedures usually require only a minimal amount of anesthetic.

Implants for Missing Teeth

Implants can replace missing single and multiple teeth and stabilize loose-fitting dentures.  These osseointegrated (“anchored to bone”) implants are long-lasting, comfortable, look great, and they can be brushed and flossed in your mouth, just like teeth.  I have restored implants for over 15 years and they are among the most reliable treatments I perform.

Mini-implants consist of miniature (1.8mm) titanium implants that act like the roots of your teeth and retaining fixtures that are incorporated into the base of your denture.  Mini-implants can provide greater denture stability for those patients that cannot withstand the rigors of conventional implant surgery or do not have enough bone to allow for full-sized implants to be placed.

Snoring Treatments

About one-third of the population snores, which can repeatedly disturb the sleep cycles of spouses and children of a snoring family member.  The muscles and soft tissues in the throat and mouth relax during sleep, making the breathing airway smaller.  This increases the velocity of air flowing through the airway during breathing, causing the soft tissues, like the soft palate and uvula, to vibrate.  We treat this condition with special dental appliances (Silent Nite sl and TAP 3 Elite) which help control or eliminate the snoring by moving the lower jaw into a forward position, increasing the airway space and decreasing soft tissue vibrations.
